Construction Outline

Summit Shopping Mall is located to the west of Zhongshan Park, Changning District with Changning Road and Kaixun Road separately to its south and north. It is also close to Huichuan Road on its northeast and occupies in total an area of 25,899 square meters. The unique design and superior location of Summit Shopping Mall have turned it into the essential traffic hub for the Westside of Shanghai. The Mall combines a four leveled underground space, a ten leveled podium and a fifty eight leveled tower into a large integrated architecture of commerce and traffic. It includes many utilities such as parking place, bus stop, supermarket, department store, cinema, exhibition centre, office building,hotel and etc. Summit Shopping Mall has a total architectural area of about 300,000 square meters that qualifies it to be a city within the city.

Construction Layout

In Summit Shopping Mall, the four underground levels are designed as follows: Level B3 and B4 are parking areas, facility warehouses and hotel storages. Level B2, which is on the same level of the Metro line platform, leads to a 900-square meter, sector-shaped underground plaza. From the underground plaza, passengers can get to both level B1 and ground level and to the Pearl Line. What is more, they can go through the eight-meter wide channel to reach the taxi station on level B2. The department store is on the east side of the channel while the supermarket is on its west side. Level B1 has the same structure as level B2 and both levels are of a height 5.2 meters.

On the ground, there is a 58 leveled tower in the southeast part of the mall. Level 1 is the front hall of the hotel; level 3 to level 7 are different restaurants and the hotel; level 8 to level 10 are used as the front hall of the exhibition centre; level 12 is a gym with a swimming pool and a tennis court on the roof; level 13 to level 23 are office space and finally from level 24 to the top are all hotel suites and related facilities.

Podium are made up of the shopping centre from level 1 to level 7 and the exhibition centre from level 8 to level 10. A department store of three thousand square meters is surrounded by an arc-shaped corridor and the design threads through all levels of the shopping centre. A cinema with eight halls is on both level 6 and level 7 and areas of food court are along the side of the atriums in level 7. Level 8 and 9 are exhibition centre while level 10 is a banquet ballroom. In addition with excellent traffic system, the Summit Shopping Mall will certainly contribute greatly to the development of the whole district.

Traffic Organization

1. Public Communication

Summit Shopping Mall connects Metro Line #2 and Pearl Line light trail both of which are directly accessible through the mall. The three bus terminals in the north are close to the entrance of the mall. The taxi station on level B2 can hold 50 taxis at one time.With all these advantages, Summit Shopping Mall can provide maximum efficiency and high convenience to people.

2. Parking Space

The parking space for motor vehicles is located in level B3 and B4. There are two separately accesses one in Kaixuan Road and the other in Huichuan Road. In total 860 vehicles can be parked within this area and in addition a parking area for 9 buses is provided on the ground. An area of 2,803 square metears on level B1 and B2 provides bicycle parking for the personnel of the mall.
